I know the answer to this question seems obvious, but believe it or not, there are lots of people in the world that would pick the veggies over the pizza. (I wish I was one of them!)
This was my dinner last night. Not very nutritious, huh? The other day I was talking to a relative (Hi Katie!) that told me that her 3 and 4-year-old daughters love eating vegetables right from her garden. They crave it. That just amazed me. My cravings, as you know, typically come in the form of ice cream and pizza. And I'm pretty sure at 4-years-old, I wouldn't be craving anything from a garden unless Pringles were dangling from the branches. I've read that you can "train" your palate to want different foods. Even though I've incorporated more veggies into my diet on a regular basis, I'm pretty sure 9 times out of 10, I would choose the pizza. I hate that. On the bright side, this greasy indulgence has me wanting a healthy lunch today. I think I'll finish up the chicken and broccoli I bought last week.
I'm not going to let myself feel too guilty about grabbing a slice last night. After all, this was the last time I had one.
What about you: would you go for the veggies or pizza?
I choose BOTH! veggies ON my pizza!
ReplyDeleteGood call, MA!
ReplyDeleteWell I don't think this would surprise anyone... Bushong girls tend to gravitate to pizza over veggies!! But I'm trying? Not sure how well I'm doing, ha!
ReplyDeleteHaha, Molls. Well just do what Mary Allen does...kill two birds with one stone and get the veggies ON the pizza!
ReplyDeleteMom said she craved pizza when she was pregnant with us, so unfortunately I don't think there is any hope for us :) It is my special treat though,
ReplyDeleteWell my mom said that she ate very healthfully when she was pregnant with me. What the heck is MY excuse?!?!?
ReplyDeleteLove a bit of the old thin crust Ellen, but can't beat the bag o' carrots for a quick and easy lunch. Throw in a few cups of tea and I am set for the afternoon :)
ReplyDeleteSee, Kissiffer, you are the exact kind of person I am envious of! I do really like tea though...it helps me (somewhat) control my ice cream cravings at night!
ReplyDeleteI'm a veggie pizza kind of gal!
ReplyDeletethe frozen kashi veggie pizza is good if your craving pizza and want something semi-healthy. maybe more restaurants will start making pizza on whole wheat instead of white like the sushi places did for brown rice vs white rice sushi. ya know?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shenay, I'll have to try that! It would be GREAT if more pizza places in NYC had whole wheat crust pizza. There's an organic pizza place called Slice that's pretty good (http://www.sliceperfect.com/). Of course, it doesn't taste as good as regular pizza at FIRST (like eating brown rice sushi for the first few times), but like I said, I do think you can "train" your palate to like the healthier options!
ReplyDeletethe pizza looks too delish! sad to say, i think the last time i tried biting on veggies was..a few weeks if not a month ago..
ReplyDeleteanyway, im really enjoying your posts :)
