My Super Bowl Food Diary

You guys know I don't give two hoots about football, so instead of giving a recap of the game (which I would fail miserably at anyway), I'm going to give you a play by play of the food I ate last night, which of course is my only reason for acknowledging the Super Bowl in the first place.

We went over to Erin's because she's always serving up the yummiest food. She keeps it healthy, but I always seem to find a way not be healthy when I'm at her place. How? By eating way too much. See, it would be much easier for me to resist nachos and chicken fingers because I rarely ever eat those foods anyway, but hummus, nuts, shrimp, salsa, guac, pita chips and chili? That's a whole different story.

Dips are tricky because you don't feel like you're eating that much, but before you know it, you want to unzip your pants and just let it all hang out. (Your stomach, that is).

A few chips here, another handful there, and BAM, you're stuffed. Thank goodness I had my shiny black leggings on--they are very forgiving.

Being full didn't stop me from nibbling on the shrimp cocktail my boyfriend and I brought. After all, it's healthy, right?

Every time I felt like I was eating too many chips, I'd reach for the veggies. But um, only then to reach for more chips two minutes later.

Erin's vegetable chili, Mmm.

By dessert time, I was offcially stuffed, but I sucked it up like a big girl and made myself a plate. Of course I did. I had a plain chocolate chip cookie, a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie (Lindsay, I want the recipe) and Erin's chocolate gluten-free rice krispies bar.

I ended up having a few. Ya know, because it's healthy. Actually, it really is, but being as I probably consumed almost a full day's calories in one meal, I definitely didn't need it. I'm going to put the recipe in the comments section for all you health nuts with a sweet tooth :)

Here's Buddy's second debut on FnF, only this time he's not sneaking food off the table. Lord knows he tried though. Bless him.

So yeah, I'm actually pretty disappointed with my lack of discipline last night. I need to learn how to enjoy food without stuffing myself like a Thanksgiving turkey. I'm very much all or nothing with my eating--it's a lot easier for me to resist something entirely than it is to stop after having a small portion.

And, I had a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie with my Shredded Wheat this morning. (Damn you, Lindsay!) Right, I need to get it under CONTROL. I'd actually been eating healthier than ever the last couple weeks until this weekend. It seemed so effortless, I thought, Wow, I'm finally doing it! It's easy, it's natural, this is just WHO I AM. Hello, healthy Ellen! YES! No. No? No, apparently it's not who I am. I'm normal. I'm human. I don't have supernatural powers that prevent me from eating a cookie at 8am. Damnit. I'll get there one day, you'll see.

Oh and remember Erin's food diary from this post? I think I'm going to have to tap her for some tips. She always seems to eat just what she wants, but never too much. Bitch! ;)

So what about you guys: What did you eat at your Super Bowl parties? Did you pig.it.OUT like I did?
