The best place to be: Backstage

Heya! Anyone else have the Monday blues? I do, and it sucks. But, I've got a couple backstage videos from the concert on Friday night, so hopefully they will cheer you up! Ok, so they're only a few a seconds long because celebs are always getting rushed through crowds so quickly, but hey, it's better than nuthin'.

Leighton Meester seemed sweet—she stopped to take a pic with a few fans. I don't always love her fashion choices, but I'm really digging this futuristic-style dress. Hey fashion pals, does anyone know who she's wearing? Not that I can afford it, but it's always interesting to know. Anywho, she looked gorgeous and skinny, obvi—skinnier and taller than she looks on Gossip Girl, actually.

I whipped out my camera as Usher walked by with his posse. He came through so quickly, not many people realized it was him. I yelled out his name hoping he'd look my way, but no such luck. His new teen prodigy, Justin Bieber, was at the concert, too. Has anyone hear about him? He's really cute and surprisingly talented. I thought he was just another teen twerp until I saw his onstage performance with Jordin Sparks—boy's got vocals.

The only person that did not come backstage was Taylor Swift, and I was pretty bummed by that. Laugh if you will, but I am a big fan of her music. Anyone else with me on this one?

Tell me this: Has anyone found a cure Monday blues? I used to go to the movies almost every Sunday night to boost my spirits, but that is an expensive habit, and I can't afford to do it as frequently these days. Alright, I'm putting my PJs on—night night!

Has your idol ever let you down?

When I was backstage at the Jingle Ball concert on Friday, I saw a teenage girl burst into tears because she didn't get a picture with Adam Lambert when he walked by. I heard her say, "He was right there! He could have stopped for a second!" In Adam's defense, he was incredibly nice to his fans from what I could see (well, not me—he rejected me twice when I asked to get a quick video of him! ha), and it's impossible to stop for everyone, but I do know how that girl felt. (Random side note: I noticed he had very large pores. Maybe he should ease up on the makeup?)

In middle school, I was OB-SESSED with UK basketball player, Walter McCarty. I have no idea why really, especially because I was at the age where most girls picked their favorite athlete based on how cute they were. (Google Walter if you don't know what he looks like). One time after a UK game, I somehow snuck back by the dressing rooms and waited in a hallway I had heard the players would come out of so that I could get Walter's autograph. After waiting a couple hours and still no sight of my idol, I started to get worried that I wasn't going to get to meet him. And then, it happened. He was walking towards me (note: no one else was around), and I held out my pen and paper and sweetly asked, "Walter, could you sign this?" as he passed. Umm...yeah..he just kept on walking. My heart was shattered into a million pieces. The waterworks started, and even though my parents were pissed and worried about what I had been doing for hours after the game, they stopped being mad when they saw how broken-hearted I was.

I got home and declared that I was going to write Walter a letter to tell him how awful he had been to me. Whenever I feel strongly about something or someone, I always say that I'm going to write a letter. I said the same thing the day John Kerry lost the presidential election to Bush. Of course, I never actually follow through with it, but I always feel empowered somehow by making the statement. (You got lucky, Walter).

Ok, so back to Friday night. There was one celebrity that blew me away with his sweetness and down-to-earth personality—Pitbull.

Ok, not the best angle of me, again, but I'm putting my vanity aside for a moment. I don't know much of Pitbull's music, other than that "I know you want me" me song, but he totally won me over that night. He answered every question in the press room with enthusiasm, and stopped to take pictures with everyone that asked—which was a lot. I know he's not the hugest celeb in the world, but I really don't think he would act differently even if he was a big time A-lister. He was just so cool and fun and actually, a lot better looking in person. This pic doesn't do him justice, although I'm not really down with the facial hair on his chin. Needless to say, Pitbull's got a new fan in me!

As much as my Walter McCarty experience totally sucked at the time, it was awesome when I got to meet my other childhood idol, Summer Sanders, last year. Read the recap here. So tell me, have you ever been let down by your idol?

Photo Shoot Friday: Postponed till tomorrow

I know I know, dry your eyes. I'm having technical issues today, and since I need to start getting ready for an event I'm reporting at tonight, I'm going to have save PSF for tomorrow. It's going to be worth the wait though, I can promise you that. I went to a really cool party last night, and tonight I'm going to be backstage at a concert called Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden where I'm expecting to see a bunch of celebs like Taylor Swift and John Mayer. Sooo, I'll have tons of pics to share, so don't forget to check back in!

So what are you guys up to this weekend? Any fun plans? Holiday shopping, perhaps?

Who's your favorite Gossip Girl?

Who watched last night's season premiere of Gossip Girl? It was gooood. I love how Chuck and Blair are being open with their feelings. I know that will last 2.2 nano seconds, but it was a nice change from the usual drama and game playing. I was thinking how much it sucked that I hadn't met anyone from the cast until I remembered that I did have one brief moment with Chace Crawford in December 2007.

I was at Jingle Ball, a yearly holiday concert at Madison Square Garden that always has an all-star line up. That year it was: Rihanna, Katy Perry, Fall Out Boy, Chris Brown and Lady Gaga. Chace was just kind of wandering around backstage, minding his own business until I approached him for a pic. He was really nice and obliged my request—until later when he found out I was a reporter. When I started asking him questions, he wasn't rude, but he got flustered and said he couldn't answer anything. I didn't hold it against him—it was right at the time he just started getting popular, and I think he just didn't know how to handle the situation. My friend Jackie and I were both there reporting and all the celebs were initially really nice to us because they thought we were young(er) fans!

I can see why—look at Jackie's baby face. Lucky bitch. That night, we also approached Pete Wentz. I came up with a cheesy ice breaker like, "Hey Pete, why'd you have to go and copy my style?!" (He was wearing a purple hoodie too). It actually made him laugh—a little—but later in the night when I approached him again, he totalllly dissed me and acted like we never had that little bonding moment. Ouch. I'm going to blame it on the pain killers; he had a broken foot at the time and seemed a little loopy!

And check this out—Jenny was wearing a dress from my friend, Marsha's line, Thayer. Love it!

Who are your fave Gossip Girl characters and WHY? I'm team Blair/Chuck allll the way!!!
